Some of you may have heard or seen e-mails that the DC Metro System has announced planned station closings on Saturday, January 11th and Sunday, January 12th that may affect your travel to the Annual Meeting. The three stations north of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) will be closed for maintenance, which means no train service will be available into downtown DC on those days from the airport. I’m told the airport also is in the midst of a significant renovation project that is affecting road traffic to/from the airport. This means that your options to take a taxi, TNC (Uber/Lyft), or limited shuttle bus service that the Metro system will offer to the next open station, likely will be hampered by significant congestion.

The expected delays and long lines unfortunately are unavoidable. I encourage you to monitor the situation at http://www.wmata.com. The trackwork schedule can be found at https://www.wmata.com/service/track-work.cfm. Also you may wish to monitor the TRB website, although I’m not sure if there will be any announcement there.
